Rumors of the restaurant closing resurface after three years.
In 2010, What Now Atlanta (WNA) received a highly placed tip that Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse would shutter its Sandy Springs location, at 5788 Roswell Road.
WNA contacted the steakhouse to confirm the allegations. A manager at the Sandy Springs Ruth’s Chris confirmed it would close.
Three years later, the steakhouse remains in business.
Thursday, WNA was tipped off by an industry insider that Ruth’s Chris would now relocate its Sandy Springs location, forcing WNA to reopen the case.
Patrick, a manager at the steakhouse, told What Now Atlanta over the phone Thursday, Ruth’s Chris is in fact planning to relocate its Sandy Springs location.
Sources close to the project allege the steakhouse has been underperforming, and with the restaurant’s lease expiring this year, would provide an out for Ruth’s Chris.
In 2010, a company spokesperson told WNA the restaurant’s lease was up for renewal in “late 2013.”
“Ruth’s Chris Steak House in Sandy Springs is not closing. Our current lease runs through late 2013 with options for renewal. We are evaluating all available options in light of the DOT’s decision to widen surrounding roads; however, we have no immediate plans to move the restaurant. Our Sandy Springs team has enjoyed, and will continue to enjoy, serving the Atlanta community.”

I for one would be happy to see them go from here. What a down slide in the area! The last time I ate here was last March with my wife. I noticed a “casually” dressed Latino man come in the front door. Then I had to use the commode and lo and behold, he was in there and he wiggled and waved his brown ding dong at me. I got sick and ran out and grabbed my wife, paid and left. How revolting!

There is nothing “unlikely” or “racist” about my post above. I’m simply reporting something that is relevant to the restaurant closing due to the decline in the area. This sort of thing is to be expected in certain locations like movie theater restrooms or department stores. I am a very attractive brown skinned Indian male and get hit on by men and women all the time. I expect some things but not to have someone wag their willy at me in the commode in a fine dining establishment.

You’re right, Jay. It’s totally “expected” to have peckers waved at us in movie theaters and department stores. Hell, that’s the primary reason I even bother going to the mall any more.
I believe Ruth Chris is moving to the location just emptied by Applebees in Sandy Springs at the intersection of Roswell and Abernathy road. DDR, the world’s largest landlord, did not want Applebees there any longer and did not renew their lease to replace them with a higher end restaurant.
