A father and son ownership duo is making plans to expand their vegan coffee and doughnut shop in the Westview Grocery Mart-anchored Westview Plaza off Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
While they have already soft-opened for private and special events, they are hoping to grand open to the public in late-summer 2020 expanding into an adjacent space, pending permitting approvals with City Hall.
To add to the coffee, ice cream, and doughnuts, by the grand opening, Bailey’s will have a full vegan line-up including vegan nachos, sandwiches, and drinks.
“We’ve always wanted to start off fully vegan, but we didn’t think we could because we thought the majority of our customer base wouldn’t be vegan,” Co-Owner John Bailey shared with What Now Atlanta during a phone interview.
“But since we are so close to Slutty Vegan, we’re seeing that we’re actually better off going full vegan from the start. We are a coffee and doughnut shop, but that doesn’t mean we can’t be healthy as well.”
Bailey, who grew up on the Westside, says the Bailey’s Coffee and Cream grand opening event will be part community gathering, part community exposition and market to highlight the dining, career, cultural, and business opportunities on the Westside and in Westview, a necessity, he says as nearby BeltLine-oriented development ramps up and shops like Greens and Gravy shutter.
“One of the main reasons we decided to open Bailey’s on the Westside is because we wanted to make a point that you don’t have to go across town to shop, you can actually stay on the Westside and get everything you need,” Bailey said.
They are also eyeing an endcap unit available in the plaza that they intend to convert into a sports bar.
