Azucar Cuban Cuisine is planned for a shipping-container space outside Lenox Square, set to serve quick but high-quality food on the go.

“People from the office, running out in the middle of the day, they can grab a Cuban sandwich and plantain chips on the go,” owner Alvaro Carta said.

Azucar Cuban Cuisine has even more reason to celebrate; they just opened their first brick-and-mortar restaurant in Brookhaven. The eatery located at 2142 Johnson Ferry Road NE officially opened June 3, 2024.

“Everything is really good, we are really busy,” Carta said of the new location.

Azucar Cuban Cuisine first began as a food truck, which will still be available for catering and events.

“We love food, and we saw it was missing a lot of Cuban flavor in the Atlanta area,” Carta said. “There are a couple, but I think we need more. We had the idea to start as a food truck to share Cuban flavor with the Atlanta community.”

Azucar Cuban Cuisine is expected to open at Lenox Square this summer.
