McLeroy has been pursuing the necessary permits to open in Chamblee, at 3568 Chamblee Tucker Road, since mid-2014.

“It took longer than expected to get the special landings permit, which is required for drive-thrus, and we had some engineering issues that have been resolved now,” McLeroy told What Now Atlanta (WNA) in a telephone conversation Wednesday.

A building permit application was filed last month with DeKalb county to build the new 3,568-square-foot Zaxby’s from the ground up, with construction costs at an estimated $500,000.

Owning and operating Zaxby’s runs in the McLeroy family. The restauranteur’s father, Greg McLeroy, owns thirteen locations of the friend chicken chain in the greater metro Atlanta area.

McLeroy’s first Zaxby’s is in Doraville, at 5632 Buford Highway NE. The Chamblee Zaxby’s is expected to open late-October, early November.

    1. I’m excited, its on my direct path home and I finally will have a quick chicken option I actually like close to my home. This area of Norcross/Tucker/Chamblee has needed a Zaxby’s for Chick fil-a for awhile now.
