The restaurant will be located at 2645 North Berkley Lake Rd NW in Duluth. The eatery draws inspiration from the gastronomic traditions of Chongqing, a municipality within China’s Sichuan province.

An a la carte menu with 95 items provides a complete selection of hot pot delicacies. The menu centers around classic Sichuan flavors such as Mala (numbing spicy), and ingredients like fresh-cut meat and a variety of offal. Some noteworthy items: Milk Marinated Thick Cut Beef, Spicy Tender Beef Slices, Fried Crispy Pork, Chilled Duck Intestines and Pig Brain. Ten non-alcoholic beverages are also available.

The 6,000-square-foot space has 105 seats in an open area and 10 seats in a private dining room. The interior of the restaurant features a palette of red and teal, accented with lattice woodwork. Pendant lights inspired by paper lanterns cast a soft glow on the murals that depict scenes reminiscent of ancient Chinese landscapes.

At the helm of Xi Hotpot is Theo Wang, an expert in the hot pot culinary scene with previous experience at The Dolar Shop, a global high-end hot pot chain. Under Theo’s guidance, the Xi Hotpot team prioritizes two fundamental elements: rich, nuanced flavors of the broth and freshness of the ingredients, many of which are sourced directly from local Asian markets, including Great Wall and Jusgo Supermarket.

“We hope Xi Hotpot will be a place for our tradition and culture to shine. That’s why we named this place ‘Xi, or 熹’ which means light in Chinese,” co-owner Kevin Zhang said in a news release.

Xi Hotpot will be open from 1 to 10 p.m. daily.
