The restaurant is coming to the new Westside Village mixed-use, at 2250 Marietta Blvd NW, Suite 206.

It is slated to open in February 2020, Co-Owner Titi Demissie in a telephone interview Monday told What Now Atlanta.

“When we tell our customers about the new location we’re planning, they are excited, so we are excited,” Demissie said.

“Excitement is a good motivation for our expansion.”

Like Desta’s original Briarcliff Road outpost, the new Westside Village restaurant will offer table service, but its updated design and layout will feel more like the company’s Emory Point location.

Opening in the Westside is a natural progression for Desta “as we currently have a lot of catering business in the area,” Demissie said.

Before the end of 2022, Demissie and her team, which includes husband Ash Nega, could be operating at least five locations across the metro area.

Lease negotiations are underway for a Desta in Midtown and real estate is being scouted in Alpharetta, Marietta, and Roswell for what would be the restaurant’s fifth location.

Demissie and Nega, both born and raised in Ethiopia, met in Atlanta, married, and launched Desta in July 2006.

The restaurant’s menu of Ethiopian staples including tibs (cubed meat), kitfo (finely ground raw beef, mixed with butter), vegetarian options, and injera (a spongy flatbread), continues to win accolades year after year.
