The restaurant chain, Co-Founded by Ted Turner and CEO George McKerrow, will occupy Suite 210, a roughly 3,500-square-foot endcap space with a patio.

McKerrow in a telephone interview with What Now Atlanta Monday said the company is aiming for a May 2020 debut, if not earlier.

“We’re excited to bring another Ted’s Montana Grill to Atlanta where Ted Turner and I both live, and to serve the up-and-coming Upper Westside community,” McKerrow said.

Situated above the new Ted’s Montana Grill will be a shared outdoor deck area, accessible to Westside Village guests.

“With the center’s open container policy, patrons can grab a beverage and wander upstairs if they’d like.”

Permits for the forthcoming Ted’s Montana Grill are expected to be filed Tuesday with the City of Atlanta.

The company is also scouting real estate for a second in-town location which McKerrow hopes to open in the second half of 2020.

Longterm plans call for two new local stores every subsequent year.

“We’ve got several sites we’re looking at but I won’t even mention the neighborhoods because I don’t want anyone to swoop in and steal any of my spots,” McKerrow said.

“Real estate is difficult these days. Very expensive. High risk.”

An existing Ted’s Montana Grill, at 1874 Peachtree Street NW, will most likely close at the end of 2020, or in 2021, according to McKerrow.

The Shepherd Center has purchased several commercial properties at the corner of 28th Street and Peachtree Road including the land where Ted’s is situated, with plans to develop a highrise of extended-stay housing for its patients.

“We’re considering putting Ted’s back in the new development but that would leave it vacant for several years,” McKerrow said.

“It’s possible that we’ll reopen elsewhere nearby. We have well over a year to decide.”

  1. That is incredibly disappointing that Ted’s Montana Grill is the best the Westside Village can do. I had much higher hopes for the development and for the Upper Westside. I don’t know of anyone who would frequent Ted’s so with any luck they will be closed within a year and we will get something better and more interesting for the neighborhood.

  2. Isn’t there already a place called Westside village? When I google it, the corner of Joseph E Lowry and MLK Blvd comes up. A bit skeazy they straight up robbed the name.
