Fifth Group hopes to Lure Midtowners in with new seafood concept

What Now Atlanta reported last week that  Fifth Group would open a new concept in the former Vickery’s  Midtown.

The restaurant group announced Monday they will open a seafood restaurant called Lure in early 2012, Creative Loafing first reported.

The restaurant at 1106 Crescent Avenue has been purchased by Fifth Group and is the first property owned by the company for one of their restaurants.

Micah Willix, executive chef at Ecco, will act as chef for Lure according to Monday’s press release, in addition to his role at Ecco.

The menu at Lure will feature a variety of seafood from all over the world and the drink menu will be made up of draft beer, wines and cocktails.

Lure seats 140 guests. The restaurant will undergo major renovations to the interior, exterior and patio under the direction of Ai3 and Bill Peace of Peace Design.

Fifth Group is also slated to open a Tex-Mex restaurant in former II Mulino Downtown (story here).

  1. This will be a success. Anything fifth group touches seems to turn to gold. Look at Ecco… constantly packed. South city, the exact same. I lo
ok forward to seeing their next move…

  2. (i) This is great news
(ii) I don’t see the word “fried” referenced anywhere in here.
(iii) The seafood at Ecco is pretty outstanding
(iv) ai3 and Peace have a pretty cool template for design (in my opinion)
    (v) With this, and the combination of the new spot to take up at 905, it looks like Atlanta’s appetite (Midtown’s at least) for tacos, burgers, cheap beer, and sleeveless diners isn’t as robust as previously thought.
