A building permit application was recently filed for Skiptown, planned for the Kirkwood neighborhood at 200 Arizona Avenue. It was reported earlier this year that a tenant had leased the space, a one-story property dating back to 1955. It is located west of Pullman Yards.

Skiptown offers grooming, boarding and training services for dogs, as well as indoor and outdoor areas for off-leash play. The concept’s flagship location is in Charlotte, North Carolina, and the company is now working on expansion across the U.S., including a new location in Denver.

Atlanta is next on the list. In addition to services for dogs, Skiptown offers a restaurant and social club for pet owners.

“We’re here to make it easy and even more fun for dogs and people to live their best lives,” Skiptown founder and CEO Meggie Williams said in a statement provided to What Now Atlanta. “Skiptown is an upscale retreat with a restaurant and social club. We’ve set out to raise the standard of pet care across the country and are excited to bring the magic of Skiptown to all of the dogs and their people in Kirkwood.”

Skiptown Kirkwood is expected to open in Q4 of this year.

The location is currently hiring for several positions, including a general manager and assistant general manager. The job postings indicate that Skiptown “will soon expand to include retail.”

Skiptown would join other dog-focused destinations in metro Atlanta, including Off Leash in Alpharetta (and soon expanding to Decatur); Fetch; and The Drafty Dane, which is coming to Marietta.

  1. Here’s hoping there will be a significant number of affordable apartments—not just “luxury” ones.

    Thanks!
