The Austin-based Tex-Mex concept near Cumberland Mall, at 2955 Cobb Pkwy SE #830, is targeting a “last week of February” 2017 debut, a company spokesperson told What Now Atlanta in an email Wednesday.

“We’re very excited to be a part of the Cumberland-area community,” Bryan Turner, local owner/operator of the soon-to-open Chuy’s, said in a press release.

The new 6,550-square-foot will offer the vibe and atmosphere found at other Chuy’s locations including an Elvis Shrine, the La Chihuahua Bar featuring framed pictures of local dogs, a “school” of hand-carved wooden fish, metal palm trees and a hubcap-covered ceiling.

Chuy’s will be open seven days a week for lunch and dinner: from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday.

Chuy’s joins restaurants like Longhorn Steakhouse and Chipotle in Akers Mills Square, according to the shopping center’s site plan.

Chuy's is opening in unit 9, a 6,550-square-foot space.

    1. Pollo Tropical and Chipotle are in the same shopping center. Taco Mac and Moe’s are just down the street … Taco Bell and Del Taco are up the hill … and Ray’s Rio Bravo over the river and through the woods. I agree with poster above, too bad it’s not another option.

      1. You forgot Cinco in the same shopping center. That being said, I’m THRILLED Chuy’s is coming. Yes, it’s Mexican and there are lots of options, but it’s different than all the other places. Chopotle is fast casual burritos. Pollo Tropical is not Mexican. Moe’s is fast casual burritos. Taco Mac is a sports bar with a few Mexican items. Taco Bell & Del Taco are fast food. Ray’s is far enough away and has terrible food and is overpriced. That leaves Cinco. Similar food, but different enough. I can go to either place and see enough different menu items. I used to work in Perimeter and loved Chuy’s. I live and work in Cumberland area now – I will be a regular!
