  1. I went to TWO tonight for dinner and noticed that their health score is at 97% and I just wanted to inform other potential diners of this change. I believe it is important for all guests to be aware of such information when choosing an establishment to dine at and having the most up to date health inspection score is a great way to choose or review a restaurant.

  2. The health score they have posted that is 97% is not up to date. They failed their inspection less than a week ago. Gross.

    1. I was worried about two urban licks too! I called and spoke with their manager to clear my mind. Apparently, the initial score posted wasn’t the completed inspection; a preliminary score, if you will. The final score was posted as a 97 the following day. If anyone is worried, give them a call!

  3. I feel like we’ve been down this road before with RuSans. *googles this*
Yep. One year ago they failed with a 55. Yikes.

    1. Where’s the incentive when apparently there are few to no consequences for failed inspection after failed inspection? Completely disgusted when it comes to RuSan’s and the division of public health’s permissiveness towards the establishment.

  4. Hello All-Hannah here with TWO urban licks. I wanted to touch base on the TWO health post. TWO has always had a strong health score. The current health inspection was re-reviewed immediately and the score they received was a 97…which is in fact their current health score.

    1. Hannah,

It sounds as if you are minimizing the risk to the public’s health. Someone could have gotten sick (probably did but did not report it) from the very serious infractions listed on the failing inspection. The simplest and most importnat responsibility in any restaurant is cleanliness and sanitation and your restaurant scored low on both accounts. to be very candid, the Health Department inspection form is too simple and does not cover areas such as surface bacterial count and if “all” managers and kitchen workers are ServSafe trained and certified. You did not apologize and you failed to share the owner’s plan to upgrade management and re-train management and kitchen staff so this never happens again.

      1. OMG Jim give it a rest the violations stated there happens in every kitchen all the time. The fact is touching ready to eat foods, the most serious of the infractions or made to seem that way happens all the time even on well respected culinary venues such as food network or any chef driven establishment. If proper hand washing is in place gloves aren’t needed!!!! BTW I don’t work for the company so no I’m not a Two Homer.

        1. Al, it is very obvious you have never experienced food poisoning and you failed to read the entire report. It is not customary to receive a failing score so with your very relaxed attitude toward proper temperatures and sanitation I am declining your invitation to dine at your house.

  5. I posted this (below) a few months ago regading RuSans and their now on here again! They need to be shuttered!

Gross!! I can tell you from personal experience that Ru San’s is disgusting. I got sick from eating there TWICE! The first time I couldn’t definitely say it was their food that got me sick, but the second time I could and now there’s little doubt. Horrible! Plus, I’ve seen the owner, Ru San (presuming he still owns it) treat his staff like dirt. I haven’t been back in years.

  7. Of course Two Urban Licks got a higher score as most places do on re-inspection because it is a scheduled visit unlike the initial review which is a surprise visit. To judge a place fairly you should go by the initial and unscheduled score and not the follow up.

  8. we need another change to the inspection paperwork. we need the letter grade AND the date as big as possible. how many times do I walk into a restaurant and I can see a decent score but since I can’t read the date I don’t know if it’s current or not. we allow too many restaurants to get a bad score and then when the inspector returns the restaurant has an ancient inspection report posted. there should be a large monetary fine for this violation, not just a few points.

  9. Are all of you referring to the one on Piedmont? Because I frequent the RuSans on Moreland a lot and have never gotten sick. I also work at the health dept as an epidemiologist and am friends with some of the health inspectors, I’m going to check on Two first hand.

  10. Thumbs Up, Two Urban Licks, and Little Bangkok have all had follow up inspections and all currently have a rating of A.

I’m a big fan of all three of them so I did some follow up research.

    1. Getting an “A” rating on a re-inspection is like taking an open book test! How about following the ServSafe rules so there will be no need to take the test over? Filthy restaurants are bad for the health of consumers.

  11. Ru San’s has had 2 inspections since the July 19, 2013 failing inspection listed above. On July 29, they received a 75. On August 5, they received a 60.

Of their 5 most recent inspections, the highest is a 75. Gross. Why would anyone eat there?

  12. I ate at TWO last night. Everything seemed fine and the food was amazing as per usual. The score by the host area said 97 and when I asked the manager about it all of my questions were answered. I asked specifically about certain infractions on the score card and was very pleased with her answers. I have worked in restaurants before and know that the scoring can be random and based on the mood of the inspector. I worked at a place once where we always passed with flying colors and one day a woman came in and started deducting points for things that never before were considered a violation. She caused quite a stir in the restaurant world in Nashville for a minute until she was fired for not following procedure and for making things up as she went. I feel confident that things are clean and serene at TWO. They’ve been around for almost 9 years now and never had a nasty score.
