Unnamed restaurant slated for Lupe Taqueria space, formerly Cuerno

Can the restaurateurs behind Top FLR and Dinner Party Atlanta succeed where Riccardo Ullio of Fritti and Sotto Sotto failed TWICE?

God, let’s hope so.

Patrick La Bouff, lead owner of Dinner Party Atlanta and Darren Carr, co-owner of Top FLR and The Sound Table, leased restaurant space at 905 Juniper Wednesday, according to La Bouff.

Unsure of what the restaurant at 905 Juniper Street will be at this time, La Bouff told What Now Atlanta Friday his newest venture will open “sometime this summer,” taking space where two restaurants (Lupe Taqueria and Cuerno before that) failed (story here).

Shane Devereux, executive chef for Top FLR, The Sound Table and Dinner Party Atlanta, will act as executive chef for the new Midtown Restaurant as well.

Devereux will continue cooking for all three restaurants in addition to the unnamed restaurant, according to La Bouff, who said the new concept will be “unique unto itself,” separate from Top FLR, The Sound Table and Dinner Party Atlanta.

As for the new concept, La Bouff said it would be “disingenuous” to talk about at this early stage.

“If [What Now Atlanta] wrote about the concept and it changed between now and sometime this summer, people would be confused,” La Bouff said.

  1. It’s probably going to be a burger place. LOL!

Seriously, I am SO excited to hear this. I jogged past the location this afternoon and noticed the lease sign was gone. Love these guys.

  2. Something like Top FLR or Sound Table (that you can actually walk to) is what Midtown needs! I’m excited to learn more about their concept and hope for the best.

  3. I cannot freakin wait for this to open! Those guys really get what the neighborhood needs and wants. Great news!

  4. Why did the owner’s of the property, Z Developments, ask for ideas for this space on this website if all they were going to do was to lease it to another restaurant? They asked for feedback from the neighbors and the idea that won was not another restaurant, it was more like a Star Provisions concept. I just hope they are better neighbors and stewards of the building than the disaster that was there previously.

  5. Perfect group for that space. I may make this my new local spot! Would be nice if they added some outdoor seating too!

  6. Hallelujah! I love Top FLR so this is great news. I just hope the new owners can deal with the issues that other restaurants have had in that location (i.e., parking). They need to valet every night or it won’t work.

  7. Eric, I did my best to pick a group that “gets” what the Midtown community wants and needs. I am 100% confident the neighborhood will enjoy their new concept! Looking forward to that drink at Ecco, Thx!

  8. Finally something for this space, but I can’t imagine anyone paying the $6,000/rent and being able to make it work as a restaurant. I mean it did not work the past 2 times and Lupe was usually packed all the time. The area needs a gourmet/high end food to-go option…….Alon’s concept where are you????

  9. Met lead owner this afternoon…yeah there will be outdoor seating. He briefly discussed the concept…sounds like it’s perfect for midtown and will cater to the neighborhood folks and yet be attractive enough for others to drive in. For me I eat out nearly very night…so want price point that is reasonable…and on occasion will want higher end options.
