Atlanta’s Trail-blais-ing Restaurateur

Celebrity Chef, Richard Blais, unofficially announced yesterday at a media preview for the the newest FLIP Burger Boutique location in Buckhead, that he and his team would be launching a new restaurant concept in Atlanta.

Showcasing some new menu items, Richard Blais hosted yesterday’s media luncheon and dinner, and with intent or not, gave a piece of information that wasn’t originally on the menu.

With a look to his publicists with the Reynolds Group, Blais enthusiastically said that plans were underway for a new concept that will launch the Atlanta market in the Virginia Highlands area in 2011.

Atlanta’s second FLIP Burger Boutique, a concept out of Alabama with plans for expanding to the D.C. area, opens today, October 19, at 3655 Roswell Road in Buckhead.

The space, formerly Blockbuster Videos, is divided into two areas, one of which sits empty and unfinished with a “for lease” sign in the window.

We asked Blais what would happen with the additional space. He answered that it might be utilized for something outside of the FLIP Burger Boutique brand by him and his team, but at this time, the space is available.

FLIP Burger Boutique in Buckhead will offer items to include the “Duck, Duck, Goose,” a burger made with duck, foie gras center, duck confit, rocket and kumquat as well as the “Southern,” chicken fried beef, pimento cheese, b&b pickles and chow chow.

Though Blais wasn’t all that forthcoming on finite details on the new concept, we’ll be sure to find his switch and FLIP more detail out of him– stay tuned!
