Cobb Parkway location up for sale, Buckhead location days away from opening.

Tomo Sushi Bar & Japanese restaurant is closing in Vinings.

The Cobb Parkway restaurant is up for sale through RestMart.com, Atlanta Magazine first reported.

The 1,200-square-foot space is being listed at $90,000 for a “faster sell,” according to the RestMart.com listing. The restaurant’s name does not come with the purchase but all equipment, furniture and “most of fixtures” will stay, the listing notes.

Tomohiro Naito, the restaurant’s owner, has been working on opening a location inside The Ritz-Carlton Residences Buckhead at 3630 Peachtree Road.

Naito applied for a business license July 21 to finalize the opening process.

Naito told Atlanta Magazine Thursday his decision to close Tomo in Vinings was to focus on the Buckhead location.

  1. I’ve never been to Tomo, but MF is highly overrated in my opinion. I have heard it called the best sushi in Atlanta…had a client dinner there and did the chef’s tasting. Mediocre at best.

  2. I have not been to the Buckhead location, but the original Midtown location used to serve quality sushi in a warm, vibrant atmosphere. I have also enjoyed Miso Izakaya on Edgewood.

  3. Have heard really good things about Tomo, so this is good news for me. My team in Terminus justifies spending for MF about once in a blue moon…and having Tomo nearby will certainly be a good thing. Hopefully there is enough demand to fuel Tomo, MF, and Bluefin (another sushi restaurant I have not tried yet).

  4. @ Clicker – Once again, not relevant, nor valuable, nor really even opinionated. A lot of people may not like what I have to say, but for the most part my comments are thought opinions that are based on a lot of personal/professional experience. Yours, on the other hand, are just useless bile.

  5. MF is not that great. Just because the space is fancy, pretty and expensive doesn’t mean the sushi is out of this world. Tomo is just as good and approach to prices is closer to earth. And yes I know what I’m talking about because I worked at Nobu and Masa.

Sorry to burst your bubble but not to side with anyone, Urbanist has legs on that claim.

  6. Urbanist, it’s not that I (and apparently many others) don’t like what you have to say, rather it’s the insufferably smarmy way you say it. Don’t you get that yet?

And by the way, bile serves an extremely important function; it helps digest fat. Appropriate, don’t you think?

  7. Shoot, I thought Tomo was my OTP secret. 🙂 I refuse to go to MF Buckhead – even their regular sushi/rolls are overpriced vs. their original location (which I love). I mean the sushi is good, but that’s outrageous.

  8. Bile has been used in Chinese medicine for centuries and snake bile is a delicacy in Asia. Haters. 🙂

  9. This is sad news for those of us living in Vinings. Almost calls for flying the flag at half mass. We are losing something special. But, makes sense. Tom (master sushi chef and owner) has been in that tiny location packing people in at lunch and dinner for years. He can probably double his revenue in a larger location in Buckhead. And Sharyn, you’re clearly computer literate so let me suggest you look at Google Maps. Tomo is ITP.
