Spokesperson says The Mansion could not come to agreement to keep restaurants alive

Craft Atlanta and Craftbar, located at The Mansion on Peachtree in Buckhead, will close in early 2011.

The restaurant’s agreement with the original owners of The Mansion on Peachtree, Mansion Centre Development LLC, was not assigned to the property’s new owners, 3376 Peachtree Rd – Atlanta LLC, when they took possession of the property in February 2010.

While efforts have been made by both parties to negotiate a new agreement, unfortunately, Craft and 3376 Peachtree Rd – Atlanta LLC could not agree on terms, according to the restaurants spokesperson.

The restaurant’s chef/owner Tom Colicchio is disappointed to be closing the doors and remains extremely proud of the Craft Atlanta team and all they have accomplished.

These accomplishments include receiving four-star reviews from The Atlanta Journal Constitution and Atlanta Magazine, as well as a spot on The Atlantan’s list of best new restaurants.

An employee at the restaurant told us the exact date of closing is Feb. 14. The restaurants spokesperson says that date is still to be determined.

  1. went there and was disappointed with the service and didnt think the food was as good as it should have been… its always sad to see a prominent restaurant go, but I would much rather support our home-grown concepts any day instead this New York import.

  2. also, if they closed due to an inability to agree on terms, why wouldn’t they just relocate? Do you think the restaurant just wasnt doing that well anyways?

  3. Just tried this place last month and was not impressed. The waiter told me that the chef would create a vegetarian entrée for me; instead I received an enormous serving platter full of mixed vegetables–a dish that was, surprise surprise, one of the featured “family style” side dishes on the menu that night. So I was given a huge, family-sized portion of rather bland vegetables as my “entrée.” Not the kind of creativity I would have expected from a famous chef; maybe he just didn’t like cooking for vegetarians. In any event, I wasn’t planning to go back there anyway!

  4. For Vegan or Vegetarian.. Please do not demand alot. You should be very grateful to have restaurants that accommodate you with a nice app or entree beside salad. You are not their only customer and it is not easy to create just one dish specially made for you within 30 minutes with the ingredients that they have.

Most restaurants have their cooks come early so they can prepare wonderful dishes for the upcoming shift. They work hard so they can serve you guys a wonderful meal from what you see in the menu. If you want something out of the menu and expect alot from it, they cook at home or get a personal Chef or made your reservations accordingly to Vegans friendly restaurants.

At least call ahead so they can prepare it for you, instead of wasting their time just to cook your order and placing other guests order behind.

Y’all should appreciate what they have done to you and maybe y’all should think about BYOM (Bring Your Own Meal)

Vegetarians/ Vegans, please appreciate what Chef and cooks have done when you go to restaurants and demand something out of their menu.

  5. We also ate there not too long ago. Service was good, but was very disappointed in the food. I would not have gone back anyway. Bye, bye Tom.

p.s. If you want a fantastic meal, check out Woodfire Grill. Best meal I’ve ever had in my LIFE! Try the 3 or 5 course chef’s choice..you won’t be disappointed.

  6. Craft was a great place.. I always had a great dining experience there.. Too bad Atl prefers longhorns and deep fried crap. Unfortunate for people that like fine dining. Good restaurants are dwindling in Atl. That’s the price restaurant owners pay in the likes of TC risk when blessing a Southern Fried Town in the greasy trans fat bible belt, with some quality!.. Having said that, if the prices were slightly more affordable, I wonder if it would have made a difference to the BBQ bozos that prefer chitlins and fatback covered meals.
