Toll Brothers on Tuesday, alongside design partner Brock Hudgins Architects, again met with Midtown planners to propose another residential highrise, this time near Piedmont Park.
The 1.35-acre site, at 250 14th Street NE, would include a new 17-story tower with 175 apartments, according to a Development Review Committee (DRC) recap.
Two existing apartment buildings at the site, each with 20 units, would remain.
“The overall design of the new tower aims to bridge the distinct elements found in contemporary buildings within the Midtown commercial core and more traditional aspects of low-scale residential buildings near Piedmont Park,” according to the DRC.
Support was given for the overall design accompanied by specific recommendations like “expanding the project to include some ground-floor retail” and “exploring enhancements to the supplemental zone to accommodate amenity space for residents with elements like patio finishes, flexible seating and a fire pit.”
Toll Brothers are expected to return to the DRC at a later date with revised plans.
The developer has regularly attended DRC meetings this year, presenting proposals for several projects including a dual-tower development long West Peachtree Street with 600 units of market-rate and student housing.

Unless my memory is really failing me – I think that you have the wrong address for this project. Should it not be 250 14th Street, NE with the zip code being 30309? In the late 60’s I lived in the L-shaped apartment building (now condos) at the corner of 14th @ Piedmont and 14th Place was not much more than a glorified alley. I also remember that there was a tiny neighborhood grocery store hidden back on 14th Place with a stone private residence with leaded windows on the NW corner of this intersection.
