Time Restaurant on Juniper Street in Midtown has announced in a press release that it has closed temporarily for a “minor renovation and rebranding of the timeless midtown restaurant.”

Owner Simon Guobadia – formerly of Buckhead Bottle Bar – is ambitious about the return of the Carribean-American restaurant. The re-opening plans to feature expanded dining and event opportunities, updated decor, and brand new management.

In 2014, Buckhead Bottle Bar was pushed out of its first home by the force of post-recession property development. The operation rebranded as Time Restaurant and found a new home in Midtown in March of last year.

If Yelp reviews are any indication, the establishment has been far from a neighborhood favorite in the eleven months it has been open.

Guobadia was not immediately available for comment.

  1. “Time” was never on their side as it seemed they never really opened. Renovations?! Really? After year… #fail. The owner of the property should have sold it to the developer next door a long time ago. #Buhbye!

  2. Here’s an idea: market yourself to SOMETHING OTHER THAN AFRICAN-AMERICANS! Good lord. Not everything needs to be a Real Housewives club loungy whatever. Launch parties for weave stores? Come on. Know your market. Just because Straits used to be there doesn’t mean that clientele is enough to support you solely in midtown.

  3. The restaurants marketing is all wrong along with it management and waitstaff. Market to the masses and know how a restaurant should be run. “Timing” is everything in this industry and having people in place that give you longevity make the difference.

I wish the owner lots of luck.

  4. The location is very nice, but many restaurants have come and gone in that spot due to poor management and not understanding the client base in Midtown, which is trendy, upscale, but hipster. The restaurant across the street, Sivas, has figured it out and has a loyal customer base as a result. There is nothing wrong with caribbean food of course so cuisine is not the problem. If they want to be popular they will need to serve a broad audience, paying attention to pricing and parking access. Midtown has a ton of restaurants, so lousy food and ESPECIALLY lousy service will not cut it.
