An Atlanta restaurant group is bringing a rock ‘n’ roll guitar legend’s tiki-themed restaurant to the Virginia-Highland neighborhood.

The Supper Club Group will open an Atlanta version of Tiki Iniki, the Hawaiian restaurant founded by Todd Rundgren, who rose to fame in the 1970s with hits like “I Saw the Light” and “Hello It’s Me,” and his wife Michele.

Brett Holtzclaw, co-owner of the Supper Club Group, confirmed the new restaurant in a recent call with What Now Atlanta. His business partner Bill Chapman is an investor in the original Tiki Iniki.

The Supper Club Group will own and operate the restaurant as licensees of the original. Todd and Michele Rundgren will not be involved in the business.

The new restaurant will take over the former Illegal Food space at 1044 Greenwood Ave.

According to a What Now Atlanta tipster, the restaurant property already displays “Coming Soon” signs for Tiki Iniki. There’s also a website for Tiki Iniki Atlanta using the same logos, artwork, and language as the original Hawaiian restaurant.

  1. Todd Rundgren is the best example of “free speech” that rose to Fame and made me laugh. he can share the issues of the elite with U and as U “take it all in”…U go down to his new place for dinner.
“a papparazi’s at the door, he says he’s here from people magazine…and there’s a lady on the phone…wants me to advertise designer jeans…” I can’t make up my mind, Todd! Tell me what to order!

  2. So this is sort of like a trendy franchise operation? I need one in my town (instead of the Burger King, thank you).
