Restaurant to occupy former Blockbuster Video
Genghis Grill will open their fourth Georgia location in Buckhead.
Located at 2140 Peachtree Road NW, Genghis Grill, a franchise offering Mongolian Stir Fry, will replace Blockbuster Video.
Genghis Grill installed a billboard at the Buckhead location earlier this week announcing they’d open. The restaurant also has the location listed as “coming soon.”
Genghis Grill is a build your own bowl, fast casual, Asian stir-fry concept, similar to The Real Chow Baby.
Genghis Grill currently has locations in Sandy Springs (Perimeter Center), Buford (Mall of Georgia) and a location in Alpharetta, coming soon.

This is what Atlanta is reduced to, cheap AYCE slop on a plate. Another nail in the culinary coffin. Worst location for this type of suburban grub.
Johnny, have you ever been to Genghis Grill? This is not your mom and pop Mongolian Stir Fry “slop on a plate” place. They have delicious, fresh ingredients and they’re restaurants are always clean. I LOVE Genghis Grill and am pumped they’re now in Atlanta!
This is incorrect information. They are opening in the former Blockbuster space at Brookwood Place and the billboard is just pointing down towards that building. You really should check your facts first!

Well, Liz, have at it. What restaurant will never say they have delicious, fresh ingredients or clean? Hopefully this will put Atlanta back on the culinary destination map along with the Sysco truck routes. What pedestrians want, pedestrians get.
Btw- there is no such thing as Mongolian BBQ/Stir fry or whatever you call it. It’s made up just like el Chupacabra. And no, I have never eaten at GG and neither has anyone from Mongolia but I have tried Chowbaby and Hot Stix(closed) and the verdict was crappy on all accounts. You don’t have to eat at PF Changs or Panda Express to know that its fake processed American Oriental food.

Atlanta has a love affair with fast-casual “dining”. Boutique burger shops, BBQ, and asian fast prep noodle/rice houses are a dime a dozen. The only thing separating any of them is the “experience” (and price).
It’s clearly an Iron-Chef-like production line race to see who can establish a brand/experience that’ll move into American suburban shopping malls en masse.
Consider the look and feel of Raving Brands (former) Mama Fu’s Asian House, Moe’s Southwest Grill, and Flying Biscuit. Splash different colors on a laminated menu, stuff the business in a faux brick strip mall, take a Sysco delivery, and turn on the lights!

Of course it isn’t authentic! They never claimed to be authentic. Just like if you go to Israel, the McDonalds doesn’t serve the same thing we have here. I hate to brake it to you, but America’s “pizza” is not what the serve in Italy. Should we all boycott Pizza Hut now?
YES, it is “fast casual dining”, and YES, you can probably pay more and get more sophisticated food somewhere else if you want.
This place is fun and friendly. The food tastes good, authentic or not. I like ethnic foods, but I do not bash GG for doing what they do best… fast, friendly, affordable and tasty.
