Sandy Springs newcomer The Select is hosting a four-course New Year’s Eve dinner and party, but only guests with a clean bill of health will be allowed to attend. “A negative COVID-19 test within 48 hours of New Year’s Eve is required for attendance of The Select’s New Year’s Eve Party,” a company spokesperson told What Now Atlanta (WNA) in an email Monday.
The restaurant will provide free, on-site tests this week for guests looking to attend the Thursday bash, or, guests can produce the results of a test they received elsewhere for admittance.
“We’re excited to provide an environment that people feel comfortable with, to celebrate the end of this crazy year, and welcome 2021,” Dave Green, owner of The Select, said in a prepared statement. “Between providing COVID testing for the two days prior to the party, and live music from the always entertaining Joe Gransden, lots of dancing and great passed appetizers, this is going to be one fantastic New Year’s Eve Party.”
The Select’s after dinner party starts at 9 p.m., and tickets are $25 in advance and $30 if purchased that night — which, in addition to the live entertainment, includes passed hors d’oeuvres: Duck Meat Balls, Hot Chicken Bites, Crab Fritters, Fig Jam & Goat Cheese Toast, and Classic Sliders. Leading up the party will be dinner with seatings available from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The four-course, prix fixe dinner is $89 per person, plus tax and gratuity.
An Executive Order (EO) issued by Georgia Governor Brian Kemp earlier this year, and extended through January 8, 2021, prohibits gatherings of more than 50 people at a single location without social distancing of at least six feet between persons, and does not allow patrons to “congregate on restaurant premises or the curtilage thereof.” Reps for The Select did not immediately commet on the EO.

Get your test 48 hours prior, then go out and mingle and mix with people doing your everyday thing, then go to the party with that false sense of security all the while spreading it everywhere. People don’t get it.
Exactly, a test is a snapshot in time. This seems highly irresponsible. Totally a facade and will provide guests a false sense of security. They’d be better off preparing meal kits to go like so many other restaurants are doing for NYE.
If they really cared they wouldn’t be holding the bash, Far too risky and they are just engaging in CYA. So so reckless…..
