The Pig and the Pint quietly closed its doors over the weekend in Historic College Park, a spokesperson Monday told What Now Atlanta in an email.
The locally owned restaurant and bar, at 1583 Virginia Avenue, served its Southern cuisine for more than four years.
“My business partner, Dennis McGuire, and I made the difficult decision to close The Pig and the Pint on Friday,” Michael Broom, the restaurant’s executive chef and co-owner, said in a prepared statement.
“We can’t thank all of our neighbors and the Atlanta community as a whole enough for the support and great memories over the last four years. We’ve had a blast serving you, but decided it’s time to move on to the next chapter.”
Prior to opening this venture, Broom worked at restaurants throughout the southeast, including Atlanta restaurants City Grill (where he received a AAA Four Diamond Award in 2009) and Le Giverny Bistro.
Maguire previously ran the East Point location of Thumbs Up diner for over nine years.
A reason for the sudden closure was not provided and what might open in the restaurant’s place has not been confirmed.

Very bad location. The location is off the beaten path and I wonder how it survived this long!
Great location for College Park, it actually has parking. $33 for a ribeye was the problem. What community were they servicing? Over priced for the neighborhood. College Park isn’t Buckhead or the Highlands, no matter what narrative local leaders try to sell. I’ve been hearing this nonsense since I went to Woodward in the late 80s. Wasn’t true then, not true now. Demographics people, try some.
