The Original Hot Dog Factory Joins Short-List of Eateries Reopening for Dining Services April 27

The Original Hot Dog Factory has announced Friday it will join a short-list of Atlanta-area restaurants in reopening for in-dining services starting on Monday, April 27, 2020.

Owned by Dennis McKinley, The Original Hot Dog Factory’s menu consists of fast-casual eats: specialty hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, salads, french fries, onion rings, and milkshakes.

“With safety precautions already put into place, McKinley’s management and staff will implement all of the Governor’s restrictions, as safety is their main concern,” the restaurant said in a prepared statement to What Now Atlanta.

Those “restrictions,” issued late-Thursday by the Governor’s office, include 39 guidelines including performing health screenings on employees, allowing only 10 patrons in the restaurant per 500 square feet of space.

The Original Hot Dog Factory will continue to provide free items to medical workers, police officers, and firefighters, an initiative that has been put into place for over a month.

A sizable number of Atlanta’s powerhouse restaurant groups almost immediately said they would not reopen dining rooms next week following an announcement by Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp that eateries could do so.

  1. Their space appears to be too small to properly follow distancing protocol. I do not plan to risk my life for what I can make at home! I also noticed cleanliness issues BEFORE the COVID-19 issue. If they did not properly follow cleanliness and sanitation guidelines before the virus I cannot be confident they know how to properly clean and sanitize!
