Teriyaki Madness is expanding next to Sandy Springs with a location at 4969 Roswell Road at Belle Isle Square. The menu includes rice and noodle bowls with chicken, salmon, steak and tofu, as well as appetizers and snacks like egg rolls, edamame, potstickers and crab rangoon.
The upcoming location comes from Gonzalo de Aristegui, who brought Atlanta’s first Teriyaki Madness to the city in 2022. With the success of that initial restaurant, it felt like the right time to launch the next. (He has an agreement for a total of three stores.)
“This one had to prove itself first,” he told What Now Atlanta. “Being the first one in the market is always difficult. You’re pulling a big cart with a single horse. It takes time to build recognition.”
Eyeing Expansion
Founded in Las Vegas in 2003, Teriyaki Madness has since grown to 162 locations across the U.S., with 40 more slated to open this year. They are nearly entirely franchised. The company is targeting the Atlanta area for continued expansion, with plans for more than 10 new locations in the market over the next five years.
Chief Marketing Officer Jodi Boyce said that Atlanta is the right market for the nutritious, convenient and customizable cuisine of Teriyaki Madness.
“First and foremost, it’s delicious,” she told What Now Atlanta. “It happens to be a bit healthier. We have quality ingredients, huge portions, and it’s all made to order. It targets the actively working adults that are looking for really good food that happens to be a little bit healthier than the alternative.”
Teriyaki Madness often does well next to gyms, targeting those who might be prioritizing healthy eats and meal-prepping along with their workouts. The stores can also occupy a smaller brick-and-mortar footprint, with a heavy focus on to-go food in addition to the dine-in customer experience.
“We have almost 80 percent of our food go out the door, whether that’s pick-up, delivery, curbside or catering,” Boyce said.
Growth in Sandy Springs
De Aristegui is a seasoned restaurant owner. The upcoming Sandy Springs location of Teriyaki Madness is located in the same shopping center as his other business, the Italian restaurant Cibo E Beve. Teriyaki Madness in Atlanta also does a lot of catering, with plenty of clients in Sandy Springs, Smyrna and Chamblee. So it was a natural fit to expand north.
“Operationally, it makes a lot of sense,” he said. “I know the market very well.”
Teriyaki Madness is expected to open in Sandy Springs this spring after some remodeling work. As for what to order if it’s your first time, de Aristegui recommends the spicy chicken teriyaki.
“It’s very unique, very different,” he said. “It’s tossed in our custom spicy sauce, which is really nice. It has a caramelized and toasty char on it.”
In the meantime, Teriyaki Madness is open in Atlanta at 1923 Howell Mill Road daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
