From the team behind Lazy Betty and the forthcoming Juniper Cafe, including Chefs Ron Hsu and Aaron Phillips, and Beverage Director Carl Van Tyle Gilbert, the restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner.

Led by Executive Chef Evelyn Ling — Hsu’s cousin who most recently worked as Executive Chef at Chef Anne Quatrano’s Pancake Social — the kitchen will serve “creative takes on American classics” using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients.

The vegetable-forward menu will feature apps, wood-fired pizzas, and entrees like pot pie in cooler months, roasted cauliflower steak, and a burger, with pie for dessert. Using grains from DaySpring Farms outside Athens, Georgia, the team will mill its own flour for housemade whole-wheat, sourdough pizza dough and present non-traditional toppings, including a broccoli & cheddar pizza, a loaded baked potato pizza, and a cajun-inspired pizza with Georgia Royal Red Shrimp.

Gilbert’s beverage program will feature a wine list with over fifty 100 percent natural, biodynamic or organic wines — several on tap and by the glass and bottle — with a selection of dessert wines. Cocktails will incorporate local spirits and creative presentations, and the menu will also offer zero-proof cocktails. On the beer side, the beverage team will serve local beers and ciders brewed specially for Humble Pie and available only at the restaurant, from the likes of Orpheus Brewing, Wild Heaven Beer, Three Taverns Brewery, Good Word Brewing & Public House, and Urban Tree Cidery.

Located on the corner of 14th Street and Howell Mill, the 4,300 square-foot restaurant will be designed by Praxis3.

A centrally located wood-burning pizza oven will be on display from an open dining counter where guests can enjoy the action. Around the corner, the lounge will provide for more intimate dining while the upstairs mezzanine will allow for larger groups and the patios and indoor/outdoor bars for casual noshing and imbibing.

The same team is set to open Juniper Cafe, a modern Vietnamese cafe and bakery, at Westside Village, at 2250 Marietta Blvd NW, Suite 100, in West Midtown fall 2021. In anticipation of Juniper Cafe’s opening, the restaurant team is hosting pop-ups at Lazy Betty to give Atlantans a preview of the forthcoming food and beverage menu. The next pop-up will be held on Tuesday, September 14 from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
