The owners of Stone Mountain’s Apple-Butter Bakery and Custom Cake Shoppe have inked a deal to open a new bakery producing custom cakes, specialty bread, and other desserts, in the Town Center portion of Pinewood Forest.
The soon-to-be-named bakery and café is expected to open at the development in August 2020.
“We’re considering calling the new concept ‘Apple-Butter Bakery’ but I’ve been trying to come up with a perfect name for it to compliment the new menu and ambiance,” Shellane Brown, the company’s co-owner, in an email Wednesday told What Now Atlanta.
“No luck yet though.”
Brown is opening the new bakery alongside her sister Erica Houston-Pickett and their mother Veronica Pickett.
It will occupy 1,117 square feet of street-level retail space at Pinewood Forest and is expected to serve lunch including sandwiches on homemade bread and “artisan” beverages by Brown’s husband Daniel, founder of Gilly Brew Bar.
Items from the family’s current location expected to be featured at the new Pinewood Forest concept include chocolate-chip cookies, red velvet brownies, and “Stone Mountain” pies (crème-filled dessert topped with butter-roasted coconut, pecans, and caramel.)
There will also be a variety of new items for people with dietary restrictions (vegan, gluten-free, keto/paleo/sugar-free).
Shellane Brown trained at bakeries in San Francisco before she and her family started an incubator market in Inman Park in 2010.
Other culinary offerings announced for Pinewood Forest’s food lineup include Pancake Social’s café + coffee house, Honeysuckle Gelato, Hop City, and Barleygarden and Braise.
