The restaurant, at 1280 Peachtree Street NE, posted a sign to its entrance notifying patrons Table 1280 would shutter after brunch on Sunday, August 12.

Kathleen McNeill with Yelp Atlanta tweeted a picture of the posted announcement Friday. Table 1280 had already shuttered at the time the photo was taken, according to McNeil.

“Totally missed Table 1280 closing,” McNeill tweeted Friday. “And it obviously closed up early.”

What Now Atlanta called Table 1280 Monday morning for comment. The restaurant’s automated recording gave no indication that Table 1280 had shuttered.

  1. Again, very little marketing. Restaurants cannot survive in Atlanta without either a prime, visible location, being attached to a familiar restaurant group, or doing some clever and heavy marketing.

  2. @ Sub-urbanist: Eh, I don’t know. Wasn’t it there for six or seven years? Lots of restaurants that do all the right things don’t last half that long.

  3. So to survive in Atlanta, you have to be at least somewhat “chainy” or be obnoxious in your marketing (also a characteristic of chain restaurants).

  4. YOU thrive only when you are in the mall. And, didn’t you once say you were leaving?

    I mean, really!

  5. I don’t belive that this restaurant is shuttered by any means. It is the main point for all of the High’s food related activities and catering. If anything, it needs to be retooled a little, but it will be back!

  6. According to the AJC :

Table 1280 at the Woodruff Arts Center closed after brunch this past Sunday. Manager Will Sprewell indicated that the restaurant will not close permanently. He said, “As you know, the majority of our business comes during symphony and theater season. During the next two weeks, we will be closing down and revamping.” According to Sprewell, the restaurant will reopen for dinner when the season resumes, but the exact date and lunch service are both “up in the air.”
