Supremo Taco later this year will open at 709 Memorial Drive, at the intersection of Memorial Drive and Chastain Street, as part of an under-construction reuse project whose leasing is lead by Habif Properties. The space was once home to an automotive repair shop.
Supremo Taco earlier this week announced it would close its current Memorial Drive location and open in an adjacent space. At the time, it was unclear which space the taqueria would occupy.
Supremo Taco is one of two tenants confirmed for the project, joining the previously-announced Kupcakerie, already under construction and expected to open in fall 2022, according to a press release Wednesday. Kupcakerie will offer gourmet cupcakes, house-made pastries and sandwiches, and a full specialty coffee offering from Decatur’s Radio Roasters Coffee. It will also offer a larger indoor/outdoor event area and meeting space “geared towards creatives.”
Supremo Taco recently announced that their current location, at 701 Memorial Drive, will close on August 23rd in preparation for their opening at 709 Memorial Dr. this winter. With the relocation, Supremo Taco aims to expand on the concept, offering interior dining, a full bar, and new menu selections.
Supremo Taco opened in 2019 by Duane Kulers and Omar Ferrer as an LA-style taco joint serving classics like Al Pastor, Carne Asada, and Lamb Barbacoa, along with snacks such as Fried Choriquesos and Churros. Having been an Atlanta staple for three years, their takeout window has consistently topped “Best of” lists, while garnering a loyal following from their Reynoldstown community. The owners of Supremo Taco also operate Pollo Primo: a California-style Pollo Asado concept located in the heart of East Atlanta.
“We are excited to see the continued growth on Memorial Drive and the expansion of these great local businesses,” Michael Habif, principal of Habif Properties, said in the release. “Habif Properties has a special connection to his corridor, having been active in this neighborhood for 43 years.”
Habif Properties leases and manages the property and recently completed an adaptive reuse renovation of the property, converting it from automotive shops to retail spaces.
