Dearing confirmed his plans in a recent email to What Now Atlanta and noted that the permitting process would begin with the City of Atlanta this week.

According to Dearing, the restaurant will serve American cuisine influenced by his six years as a Navy cook, during which time he traveled extensively. Both Dearing and Maddox are Atlanta natives.

“We grew up blocks away from the restaurant,” Dearing said in an email.

The new restaurant will open just down the street from the popular S&S Cafeteria, and directly across from the Alfred Tup Holmes golf course.

Styx and Bonez will take over a 2,100 square foot building formerly occupied by a Liberty Tax office. The space will need extensive renovations to be transformed into a restaurant.

It will join a lineup of other locally-owned restaurants clustered around Fort McPherson and Adams Park.

According to Facebook, Dearing is also an owner of Flyguy Bowtie, a clothing brand specializing in bowties that promises to donate a portion of proceeds to local charities.
