Charlene Owen and Suzanne Zigler have filed plans to open Circus Hair Studio in Studioplex at 659 Auburn Avenue Northeast. Costs of construction will total to $15,000 in the 1080 square foot space, according to a building permit filed with City of Atlanta.

and Zigler have known each other for 15 years and are both veterans of Cortex Hair Salon and Lux Studio, the latter which recently closed in Studioplex. After the shuttering, the two stylists realized they have similar visions and couldn’t imagine doing anything but opening their own hair salon.

“We are calling it Circus because the name has nothing to do with hair, and that opens us up to other ventures with the space, such as using it for an art parlor,” Owen told What Now Atlanta (WNA) Friday. “We are working hard to build a space that shows how much we value our clients. We’re excited to be staying in the Old Fourth Ward neighborhood because it’s familiar and guests love coming to the area because of all of the shops and restaurants.”

Circus Hair Studio will be using Davines and Deva Curl products. Owen specializes in cutting curly hair.

The salon plans to open in mid-April.
