Piggybacking off “record sales” amid the novel coronavirus pandemic this year, Westside’s Stanton Home Furnishings has expanded OTP with an outpost in Madison, GA, at 1561 Eatonton Road. The opening was on Monday, November 2, Owner Jimmy Stanton this week told What Now Atlanta (WNA) in an email. It is open Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“It has been a whirlwind,” Stanton told WNA in a telephone conversation regarding opening a new brick-and-mortar store as COVID-19 is shuttering other businesses left and right. “Everyone is at home right now looking to redo their houses and they can get what they need from our showroom.”
The 7,000-square-foot showroom is stocked with furniture, artwork, mirrors, accessories, lighting, and candles with new shipments arriving daily, according to Stanton. All items are sold directly off the floor, but most upholstery pieces can be ordered in many different fabric options. Stanton Home also offers interior design services out of its new space — which was purchased by Stanton rather than rented — as it does out of its original Westside home, at 1190 Huff Road NW.
Stanton said the Atlanta store is mostly shopped by designers but when “COVID hit, we started getting a lot of retail customers. It’s a weird time right now. You have to reinvent yourself. You can’t stop. You’ve got to make it work and that’s what we’re doing.” For example, as many people have increased online shopping for furniture this year — per analysis by The Washington Post — Stanton Home Furnishings has upped its web presence and has started posting its inventory to social media. “As soon as things started to shut down, we kept everyone on staff and worked on our website and focused on e-commerce and online sales,” Stanton said. “Instagram has been huge. When we get a new product, we post it.”
Stanton Home Furnishings is hosting its grand opening this weekend as part of the City of Madison’s “Shop, Sip, and Stroll” event Saturday. “Enjoy complimentary refreshments, special retail and restaurant promotions, and of course stress-free holiday shopping!,” according to a webpage for the event. “The streets of Madison will be decked out in holiday finery awaiting your visit!”
