Asha Gomez, executive chef and partner at Spice Route Supper Club, an underground dinner series, will open Cardamom Hill January 2, according to a press release Tuesday. It was originally slated to open this fall.

“I think Americans are ready to take their experience with Indian food to the next level by exploring regional Indian cuisine,” Gomez said in the release.

Kerala, a lush region of India with a prominent position along the ancient spice routes between Europe and Asia, is the inspiration behind Gomez’s Cardamom Hill, named for Kerala’s mountainous, spice-growing region, the release notes.

The restaurant, at 1700 Northside Drive, will have seating for 48, feature a central bar area with additional seating for 12 as well as a private dining area.

Cardamom Hill will be decorated in “muted colors” and fabrics and textures from Kerala and will boast two rosewood walls similar to those found in ancient heritage homes owned by the area’s nobility, according to the release.

Some of Cardamom Hill’s dinner options will include goat chops seasoned with mint, cilantro and green chile, masala-rubbed kingfish roasted in banana leaf and pork vindaloo with appam.

Cardomom Hill will be open daily for lunch and dinner, closed Sunday.

  1. Caleb,

It’s that map thing again. This one would be good if you were discussing Ted’s Montana Grill or Cafe Intermezzo on Peachtree. Neither Northside Drive nor the Berkeley Heights area are even on this map. Come on now, you said you would try harder with the maps.

  2. It is correct now however this morning it clearly showed an area from about 26th st to Collier and included Wycliff, Anjaco and a few streets on the east side of Peachtree. Somebody changed it but at least now it is correct!

  3. I went to a class that she taught for my birthday and we made a HUGE south Indian spread and ate it all. Absolutely stellar food. I can’t wait for this place to open! Best of luck Asha!
