Van Leeuwen is proposed for the popular destination at 675 Ponce De Leon Avenue NE, according to a recent building permit application with the City of Atlanta for the “interior alteration of an unoccupied existing shell space for a new ice cream shop.”

Van Leeuwen Ice Cream was founded by brothers Ben and Pete Van Leeuwen and Laura O’Neill, beginning as a truck in New York City in 2008. The brand offers both dairy and vegan ice cream, including seasonal varieties. Some current flavors: strawberry matcha latte, peppermint stick and dulce de leche caramel truffle.

In addition to scoop shops across the U.S., Van Leeuwen products can be found in grocery stores like Whole Foods and Sprouts.

The Ponce City Market location would be the company’s only scoop shop in Atlanta. Van Leeuwen can currently be found in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, California, Colorado, Texas, Washington, D.C., and Massachusetts, with expansion to Tennessee and Florida in the works.

The Van Leeuwen team could not be immediately reached for more information about the Atlanta plans.
