Denver burger chain thinks Atlanta’s a smashing place for corporate growth

Smashburger will open their first Metro Atlanta location in Buckhead, according to spokeswoman Brittany Hodill.

Hodill told What Now Atlanta in an email the burger joint will be located at 2625 Piedmont Road which is at Buckhead Crossing shopping center. Fatburger, which closed early February at the shopping center, will be the location for Atlanta’s first Smashburger.

Tom Ryan, founder of Smashburger Master LLC, told the Atlanta Business Chronicle last year the Atlanta market will be key for the restaurant’s corporate growth.

Ryan’s plan was to have three Smashburger locations in Atlanta by the end of 2010 and 30 stores across metro Atlanta within three to five years, the report says.

“We’ve mapped the market and we’re in the process of delivering some letters of intent,” he said.

Smashburger is a fast-casual concept that offers hamburgers, fries, shakes, salads, chicken sandwiches, beer and wine.

Atlanta’s second Smashburger will be located on Windward Parkway.

  1. Gag! That burger looks like it’s going to smash your arteries! Not exactly a ‘healthy’ fit for conscience eaters but hey, it’s job creation I guess!

  2. “Ryan’s plan was to have three Smashburger locations in Atlanta by the end of 2010”

    2010? Do you mean 2011?

  3. Everyone keeps acting like this burger craze is specific to Atlanta. Did you look at Smashburgers website? Look at how many locations they have in other areas (in addition to other burger restaurants in those other cities already).

  4. Burgers ain’t new in the ATL. Fatburger sucked so it won’t be missed. But most of these places are within the city limits. There are 2 Flipburgers, 2 Yeah burgers, 2 Farmburgers, 2 GrindHouse Killer Burgers and numerous Five Guys plus more I missed. As usual the city gets oversaturated until the next craze comes around. If you love burgers at least there’s plenty to choose from.
