Simon’s Restaurant has permanently closed its Midtown doors, Owner Simon Guobadia Tuesday announced on the company’s social media.

“We are truly saddened to announce that we are closing our doors at Simon’s Restaurant, effective Tuesday, May 19th, 2020,” Guobadia wrote.

“We do not foresee a successful return to business in the COVID-19 environment and the lasting impact on our operations. We thank the Atlanta community for welcoming us with open arms and for the endless support over the last few years. We are thankful for the amazing friends and memories we have made along this journey. Stay safe and healthy Atlanta!”

Simon’s, which opened in 2017, replaced Time, a restaurant from the same ownership,

Time first debuted in 2015 replacing Buckhead Bottle Bar and Straits before that.

Simon’s joins a growing list of Atlanta-area restaurants that have cited financial fallout from the novel coronavirus as its reason for closing down permanently.

  1. So I’d like to know…
With all of these unfortunate restaurant closings, are the landlords just letting them out of their leases– free and clear?
