La Santa Tacos & Bar is in the works at the former Rwby space in Midtown. The new restaurant from Mixo Group LLC will feature traditional Mexican food with margaritas and signature cocktails.

Born and raised in Mexico City, mixologist and Mixo Group CEO Jesus Perez has lived in Atlanta for several years and worked in the beverage industry for almost 15 years.

“One of my goals is to show people where I came from and why I’m so proud of my culture and the best way to do it I believe is with every cocktail I create and the delicious food we will prepare for them,” he said in an email to What Now Atlanta.

Perez said everything will be made from scratch with fresh and local ingredients.

“I want to create a great environment for everyone,” he said.

A longtime restaurant called Lawrence was originally located at the Juniper Street space before owners Eric Simpkins and Darren Carr announced in January 2023 that they would be closing the restaurant and opening a new concept there. Rwby opened last fall, serving Mediterranean-inspired fare.

Steve Josovitz of The Shumacher Group brokered the sale of the restaurant.

The space is located on the ground floor of an eight-story condo building, about a mile and a half from Piedmont Park. The restaurant is 2,600 square feet, with seating for more than 100 people, and has an outdoor patio that can seat 38 people.
