The Persian restaurant has inked a deal to open in the “reimagined” Colony Square, according to a press release Friday from developer North American Properties (NAP).

Rumi’s Kitchen, under the direction of Chef/Owner Ali Mesghali, will take the prime corner space previously reserved for West Coast concept Iselle Kitchen and Bar.

NAP “terminated” Iselle Kitchen and Bar’s lease after Chef Chris Gentile departed the restaurant’s parent company Double Standard Kitchenetta, according to a report by the Atlanta Business Chronicle (paywall.)

NAP did not want to proceed without Gentile.

The showcase space, at 1197 Peachtree St NE, is around the corner from The Grove which recently opened in the Midtown mixed-use.

“We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to bring Rumi’s Kitchen inside the perimeter and share our passion for innovative culinary experiences and delicious food with Midtown’s diverse community,” Mesghali said in the release.

“Our team has experienced firsthand how NAP creates value by activating the public realm at Avalon, and we are eager to see the same experiential strategy come to life at Colony Square.”

The buildout for 4,833-square-foot space will begin in December 2019 with the restaurant set to open in May 2020.

The Johnson Studio at Cooper Carry is leading the design efforts which includes a 1,500-square-foot outdoor patio.

The restaurant has existing locations in Alpharetta (Avalon) and Sandy Springs.

    1. Traci, the space is still available as far as we know. As soon as a lease is secured, you’ll be the first to hear about it! ~ Caleb

  1. So glad to hear about Rumi’s in Midtown. Love the Sandy Springs location.
A much better choice for the re-imagined Colony Square. Who needs a San Diego
restaurant in Midtown? Rumi’s (local) is an excellent choice for the space.
