Lime Fresh’s Midtown store shuttered Monday, and the quick-service Mexican restaurant’s Buckhead location closed shortly after on Tuesday.

Lime Fresh’s Midtown and Buckhead locations did not meet “site selection criteria for the concept,” according to a press release from early 2013.

Additionally, based on experience gained since our initial involvement in Lime Fresh, we have decided to close two Company-developed Lime Fresh restaurants that we have determined to be outside our updated site selection criteria for the concept. As we make these difficult decisions, we want to let the team members of these closed restaurants know that we appreciate their passion and commitment and we are working to ensure the employees affected by these planned closures are given opportunities at other Ruby Tuesday or Lime Fresh restaurants.

The quick-service Mexican restaurant’s Peachtree Hills location shuttered in January 2013 leaving Georgia completely Lime Fresh free, according to the “Lime Locator” on the restaurant’s website.

Ruby Tuesday acquired Lime Fresh for $24 million in 2012.

  1. When your 5 year old gags just thinking about her one dining experience at that place, when the prices are high, when the food quality is low, and when the place is virtually empty at all times despite being next to Buckhead Plaza, you know it is going go down hard and fast. I have not talked to one single person who thought that place was even remotely palatable. I have not met one person who was a repeat customer. No loss for Buckhead.

  2. This was a frustrating move over all. Ruby Tuesday Inc bullies its way into the midtown space occupied by Bakeshop (which was a light, airy, modern take on a city bakery) by offering the property owners a ridiculous amount of money to give the lease over for this absolute drench. We have Escorpion, Senor Patron, Mi Cocina, and Takorea all within 3 blocks of each other and these knuckleheads tried to force feed us Lime? Good riddance! I hope something clever and tasty like Villains (which opened up in the former Little Azio) comes in. Better yet, it would be fantastic to have either an ice cream or gelato shop or another bakery!

  3. I’m glad it’s gone in Midtown. It was dirty, and the food and service were seriously lacking.

  4. Thank God, the food at the Midtown location was beyond bad. I went in there once, was virtually the only one there and still hand to wait for 15 minutes to get some truly crappy Tex-Mex. Good riddance.
