Rreal Tacos has acquired the space formerly occupied by Uncle Jack’s Tavern.

It was made known last year that Rreal Tacos would be coming to Lawrenceville, but there was a change of plans in regards to exactly where that would be when an opportunity presented itself.

“We were about to start construction for our new Lawrenceville location in the same building as Uncle Jack’s Tavern,” CEO Damian Otero said in an announcement. “When we discovered the space was available – one already built and looked great – we jumped on it. Moving into this existing restaurant space instead means we can open our doors to the community even sooner.”

The 4,800-square-foot space at 30 South Clayton Street is one block from Lawrenceville Square, near the amphitheater. It has a vast indoor-outdoor patio, two bars and seating for 200 guests.

Rreal Tacos specializes in authentic Mexican street food with a variety of tacos, along with burritos, bowls, nachos, quesadillas, margaritas and more. There are locations in Midtown, West Midtown, Chamblee, Sandy Springs, Cumming, Sugar Hill and Buckhead.

The upcoming location in Lawrenceville is the latest example of Rreal Tacos’ second-generation space acquisition strategy. The brand is working on a location in Decatur at a former Ponko Chicken, their restaurant in Buckhead took over the space of a Farm Burger, the Sugar Hill location was formerly Cantina Loca, and the Cumming restaurant used to be Cheeky Taqueria.

“We are continuing to grow at a record pace, working quickly and efficiently to bring our signature flavor to neighborhoods all across the Atlanta area,” Otero said. “Lawrenceville is booming, and South Lawn’s retail and restaurant options have infused the downtown district with an exciting energy.”
