Rootstock Expanding In Woodstock With an Emphasis on The Music Scene

Look for a larger wine cellar, kitchen, and music venue, post-renovations in summer 2021.

A local Woodstock hotspot is making room for more music and more whiskey. Located at 8558 Main St, Anna and Sean Daily’s Rootstock — which opened in 2017 as “Rootstock & Vine” — has always been known for its music and whiskey selection. Now they’re expanding the space to add a bit more of each.

What Now Atlanta (WNA) spoke with Anna, who detailed what the expansion would entail. According to Anna, Sean deserves a large amount of the props and credit. Sean originally started the Whiskey Club and from there, the business blossomed.  “We’re constantly getting full, so room for more is definitely what we needed,” Anna told WNA on the reason they ultimately decided to renovate.

Rootstock will be expanding its wine cellar and kitchen, providing a much larger space for its chef, about twice the size. Perhaps the biggest attraction to look forward to is the much improved area for musicians to perform. Rootstock is well known for its music program,  always drawing in a large crowd for the live performances. This time around, its space caters to live musicians, offering them ample room to perform in a center stage. This will allow patrons a 360-degree view of the show, while still offering an intimate experience.  The new space will be designed with better acoustics and lighting.

Their main goal is to give back to the community. “Sean and I have been residents of Woodstock for 22-23 years,” Anna said. “It’s really humbling to see the community embracing it.”

Rootstock recently hosted two dinners since COVID-19 hit, where the proceeds were given to their favorite charities. The first one raised $2,500 and went to Angels Among Us, a local animal rescue. The second, which they’re still counting the dollar amount, will go to St. Jude’s Hospital.  Along with their amazing efforts, Anna feels that bringing the community together happens very organically.

Anna and Sean are aiming to open up their larger space in summer 2021. Anna also says one portion of the space will be a nice addition, but it’s a surprise — likely a speakeasy based on a teaser announcement on the company’s Facebook page.
