The sandwich shop will occupy a 1,353-square-foot space at 1800 Howell Mill Road in the new Piedmont Hospital building near Walmart Supercenter, according to a building permit filed with the city in March.

The sandwich shop is also slated to open a second Downtown location, according to a company press release. The existing downtown Rising Roll Gourmet location is in The Historic Candler Building.

“The second downtown location will be in the newly revitalized 200 Peachtree, the old historic Macy’s building,” according to the release.

Macy’s closed in 2003 and the space now accounts for several retail, restaurants, and facilities that will host conferences, weddings, parties and other special events.

With 13 locations total and three on the way, Rising Roll is Atlanta based since 1996. The franchise currently has locations in Georgia, Texas and Colorado and will open in the Florida and Virginia markets.

Rising Roll offers sandwiches, salads, soups and breakfast dishes. Does the area need another sandwich joint?– share your thoughts.

  1. “South Buckhead”? Is that a place now? What did that neighborhood used to be called, was it Underwood Hills? I can barely remember. Might as well call it “Greater Walmart”.

  2. What about the location on Northside & Bellemeade literally 300 yards (straight line) from where they are proposing this one?

AND WHAT THE F*CK IS SOUTH BUCKHEAD?! “West Midtown” I can handle, but f*cking Buckhead stops at collier as far as I’m concerned.

  3. “The second downtown location will be in the newly revitalized 200 Peachtree, the old historic Macy’s building”

Why? That’s not even a block away from the one in Candler?

  4. Should be “…not even a block away from Candler.”

I hate that trend of ending statements with question marks. Must be contagious.

  5. South Buckhead is a streeeeeetchhhhhh. Now the real Piedmont Hospital, that’s barely South Buckhead. You’re better off calling it Westside.

  6. The new locations positioned close to the existing units are “Express” locations which will help penetrate these trade areas and bring more exposure for this emerging brand. This is a part of the growth model. Great food.
