Slater Hospitality—the group that operates The Roof in Ponce City Market (PCM)—has filed plans for “RFD Social,” the last piece of the Old Fourth Ward mixed-use development’s rooftop.

Skyline Park, Nine Mile Station, and Rooftop Terrace are the amusement park, restaurant, and events space respectively that makeup The Roof collectively.

RFD Social will occupy The Tower, the four-story focal point of the PCM development, according to an August 24 Request For Proposal seeking subcontractor bids.

The Tower’s floors—10, 10.5, 11 and 12—will be converted into several bars and lounges, a catering kitchen, and a large gathering space that can be rented out for business meetings.

Four permit applications, filed by floor, this week were submitted to City of Atlanta for RFD Social.

The total construction space is approximately 16,172 square feet.

RFD Social presumably gets its name from “Dinner Bell R.F.D.” which was short for “Dinner Bell Radio Farmers’ Democracy,” a radio show hosted by the Sears Agricultural Foundation in the late 1920s and broadcasted out of the Atlanta Sears tower.

It’s unclear if RFD Social will service the public or will be a private events space like sister concept Rooftop Terrace.

Kelvin Slater, owner of Slater Hospitality, did not immediately return What Now Atlanta’s request for comment.
