Restaurant Eugene after a 15-year-run is closing its Buckhead doors, Atlanta Magazine Wednesday first reported.
Gina Hopkins, co-owner of parent company Hopkins & Co. (formerly Resurgens Hospitality Group), confirmed the plans in a brief telephone conversation with What Now Atlanta (WNA) immediately following the breaking news.
Hopkins & Co., led by James Beard Award-winning Chef Linton Hopkins will open Eugene and Elizabeth’s—named for Hopkins’s grandfather and grandmother, respectively—in Restaurant Eugene’s place following a quick renovation, she said.
“Eugene and Elizabeth’s will continue Restaurant Eugene’s tradition of highlighting the best of Atlanta ingredients and purveyors but will feature an approachable a la carte menu from James Beard Award-winning chef Linton Hopkins, with a convivial+communal dining experience,” a company spokesperson told WNA in an email.
But that’s not all.
Turns out, the restaurant group is closing Holeman and Finch Public House next door to its fine dining sister concept in Buckhead, and reopening it in the Midtown mixed-use development.
Holeman and Finch Public House will remain open throughout the transition from Restaurant Eugene to Eugene and Elizabeth’s, and then in late-spring 2020 will relocate from its original location to a new space in Midtown’s Colony Square, with outdoor seating and a large bar and dining room.
The original location of Holeman and Finch will close in spring 2020 and the Hopkins will announce a new concept for the space, set to open later next year.
“Linton and Gina hope the changes to both restaurants will celebrate their Atlantan roots and the local community, and the duo look forward to welcoming locals and visitors alike.”
In addition to Holeman and Finch and Eugene and Elizabeth’s, Hopkins & Co. will continue to own and operate the recently opened C. Ellet’s, H&F Burger and Hop’s Chicken.

I wish they would take a little time to fix the mess that is H&F Burger at the Battery. It will be out of business soon and deservedly so. Service is horrible. Quality is horrible. They get the benefit of having stadium access which assuredly drives sales, but how about having good service and quality. That’ll drive business 365 days a year.
