Renegade Film Festival – A Celebration of Rebels in Cinema
The Renegade Film Festival was founded in 2017, and since then, it has provided a platform for a revolution in cinema. As it strives to bring balance to independent cinema, it is back with yet another edition this year. The film festival celebrates underrepresented voices in genre film and spotlights both short and feature films.
This year’s Renegade Film Festival is scheduled for February 21 and 22. The screenings will happen at Earl & Rachel Smith Strand Theatre located at 117 North Park Square Marietta, which is the venue for the fest. The theatre has a history that goes back to the 1930s.
The festival also encourages its attendees to choose its host hotel, The Hilton Atlanta/Marietta Hotel & Conference Center, for their stay. They may choose to find their own accommodation and show up at the theatre for the fest as well.
What to Expect at the Fest?
On Day One of the festival, on February 21, there will be film screenings from a variety of genres. Experimental short films, horror, animated, and nostalgic throwback films will all be part of the mix on this day. A mix of Georgia, U.S., and world premieres will also be the highlights for the day. The events of Day will wind up at the Lumiere Lounge, upstairs at the Strand.
The second and final day of the festival will continue with a vibrant mix of genre films. The day will feature Southern Filmmakers, women in horror, Psychological horror, and Horror comedies. Following the screening, there will be an award ceremony where the winners of the iconic LIZZIE award and the REEL RENEGADE awards will be announced. The day and the festival will close at the After Party with Pizza at The Pub at The Hilton, hosted by Horror Park.
On what could be called Day 0 of the festival, there will be a meet and greet from 8 PM on February 20. The venue for the event will be The Pub at the Hilton Atlanta/Marietta Hotel and conference centre. Visitors who arrive a day early for the fest can join the event and meet the organizers, filmmakers, and fellow enthusiasts.
