The Wade will be part of MetLife Investment Management’s Midtown Union development, a mixed-use community located in the city’s “Heart of the Arts and new epicenter for business,” according to the announcement. “The Wade will reflect this unique intersection of culture and connection with a spirit and style that is equal parts creatively inspired and modernly sophisticated.”
Located at 17th Street and West Peachtree Street, The Wade will offer instant connection to the complex’s green office space — anchored by global asset management firm Invesco, dining and retail outlets, and high-rise apartment homes. Easy access to public transportation and a network of interwoven pedestrian-friendly walkways will connect the new boutique hotel to the main thoroughfare of Arts Center Way.
As a 12-story new-build boutique hotel, The Wade will feature 230 guest rooms, including six suites and one Presidential Suite. With interiors by Studio 11 Design, The Wade’s guest rooms will boast a “cool, calming color palette of natural tones and deep blues with floor-to-ceiling windows.”
Outfitted with Kimpton’s signature Atelier Bloem bath products and Frette linens, The Wade will offer all of the comforts a Kimpton is known for. Along with its popular “Forgot It? We’ve Got It!” amenity program, guests will also enjoy an evening social hour, morning coffee and tea service, pet-friendly policies, in-room yoga mats, well-equipped fitness center, and complimentary bike rentals.
The Wade will introduce two new culinary and cocktail concepts to the city. The first will be a ground-level Modern American restaurant serving up regionally inspired cuisine accompanied by a mezzanine-level cocktail lounge and bar shaking up botanical beverages and dishing out small plate noshes with a focus on aquatic delights.
To lead the team, Kimpton has tapped seasoned hospitality professional Alan Rae as its general manager. With an early start in the hospitality industry at a pub in the North of England, Alan found his way stateside following his graduation from Manchester Metropolitan University working his way up the ranks at various brands within Kimpton’s parent company IHG Hotels & Resorts.
With extensive experience in the South, and specifically in the Atlanta market, Rae previously served in leadership roles at the W Atlanta Downtown, Hotel Clermont and Wylie Hotel. In his new role, Rae is set to lead the team at The Wade and will oversee and manage all aspects of the hotel’s opening and operations. As a 20-year Midtown resident himself, Alan has a unique appreciation for the local community and will seek to bring local businesses and partners into the hotel to elevate The Wade’s guest experience and programming.
“We are thrilled to be opening the doors to our newest Kimpton in Atlanta this summer,” Rae said. “With everything we have planned for The Wade, from the unique amenities and curated guest experiences my team is working on to our inspired, chef-driven restaurant and bars, there will be something new for everyone to discover. We plan to appeal to both leisure travelers and business clients alike as our central location will serve as a hub for connecting Midtown’s cultural sights and scenes with its corporate comings and goings.”
The Kimpton Wade Hotel will be Atlanta’s third Kimpton, joining its sister properties the Kimpton Overland Hotel at the Atlanta Airport and the Kimpton Sylvan Hotel
in Buckhead.
