[Renderings] Atlanta Hard Cider to Open Tasting Room and Cidery in Marietta

Initially planning to open in Atlanta, the husband-and-wife owners wanted a space closer to their home community in Marietta.

Though Atlanta Hard Cider Co. has only been in the market for three years, founded in 2017 by husband-and-wife duo Liz and Mark Deno, their product is the second best selling cider in Georgia behind Angry Orchard

“If we keep trending, we’ll beat them by next year, which is awesome,” Liz Deno said in an interview with What Now Atlanta Monday. “People have definitely been drinking during the pandemic. I mean, our retail sales have skyrocketed, so we’re super thankful to our base.”

Back in 2018, less than a year after starting their business, the Denos announced they were opening a 40-tap tasting room and production facility in Atlanta. Those plans were eventually scrapped and the previous location on 1283 Marietta Boulevard NW has since been put on the market. “We just decided that it would be more beneficial for us to open up in Marietta,” Deno said. “We actually live in Marietta.”

Atlanta Hard Cider’s new home will be located on 1010 Roswell Street. The Denos own a 18,000-square-foot plot of land where they will build their cidery in two phases.

The first phase will consist of the cidery, tasting room, and bar, totaling to 6,000 square feet. The space will have a 1,000-1,200-square-foot outdoor patio and a 2,000-square-foot tasting room.

“It’s going to have kind of a modern industrial feel to it,” Deno said. “We’ll have all of our ciders on tap as well as just our seasonals and our one-offs, things that you would normally not be able to get in a grocery store or a package store or in the market, period.”

Though they won’t have a kitchen, the brewery will also have food trucks and food vendors set up shop on a daily basis. They also plan on having live music and other weekend activities. “I know that we’ve had friends who have had mobile ax-throwing people come, so we just plan to keep fun activities happening,” Deno said.

After a few years in phase one, the second phase will see Atlanta Hard Cider Co. making use of the entire 18,000-square-foot plot with a second building. The Denos plan to extend their production capabilities, including a barrel-aging room to age their ciders. The remaining space will be rentable event space.

Not only will this physical space allow Atlanta Hard Cider Co. to expand their lineup of ciders and other cider-related drinks in the vein of cider seltzers and slushes, it will also allow them to give tours of their cidery and educate guests on the cider-making process.

“It’s more like winemaking,” Deno said. “We just feel like [the cidery will] definitely help spread the word about our brand and what true craft cider is. We don’t use artificial flavors or colors or anything like that.”

Though the Atlanta Hard Cider website states that the brewery is set to open in the summer of 2020, construction mishaps have pushed the opening date back to early 2021.

  1. Nice looking building!
Should be called Marietta Hard Cider Co. though– Marietta is it’s own city after all.

    1. Their existing company is Atlanta Hard Cider Co., though, so no reason to change the name. It’s well established, and as the article says, “their product is the second best selling cider in Georgia behind Angry Orchard.” If it’s successful in Marietta, maybe they’ll open a second tasting room in your ‘hood of I.P.
