Zeb Stevenson and Ross Jones, formerly of Watershed, are moving forward with plans to open Redbird in West Midtown.
The duo recently submitted a building permit application to the City of Atlanta seeking approvals to begin the buildout.
It will open in space formerly occupied by the relocated Bacchanalia, at 1198 Howell Mill Road.
An estimated $485,000 could be spent converting the 3,664-square-foot space into Redbird.
Ths scope of the conversion project includes new walls, finishes, and equipment.
“Redbird will be fun, lively and comfortable with a ‘come as you are’ sensibility,” according to the restaurant’s website.
“It will be built to serve guests the way they want to eat most frequently—casually with friends, delicious food to share and with excellent beer, cocktails and wine selections.”
An eight-seat Kitchen Counter will allow guests an “engaging front row experience.”
The food will be what Stevenson characterizes as “free-spirited cuisine” in the sense that the menu will frequently change and be “focused and balanced with fresh flavors and a reinvigorated commitment to time-honored cooking techniques.”
Smith Hanes is behind the design of the full-service restaurant.
There will be roughly 135 seats across the dining room, kitchen counter, seats at the bar, and courtyard terrace dining.
Service will include lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch.
Redbird is expected to open summer 2019.
