Rat infestation temporarily closes Melton’s App & Tap

Rodents from neighboring Pet Supermarket reportedly spotted at Decatur-area restaurant.

Melton’s App & Tap announced last Monday on Facebook, it would temporarily close, the reason undisclosed.

Yesterday, it became clear why the Decatur-area restaurant, at 2500 N Decatur Road, had closed.

Rats.

In a telephone interview with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the restaurant’s owner said he voluntarily closed his restaurant on Nov. 6 after a customer spotted a rat there.

The rat was reportedly from the neighboring Pet Supermarket nearby.

What Now Atlanta searched Melton’s recent health inspection scores and found reports from the past four years, on file. The inspections came up clean. Melton’s lowest score was a 78 (C).

Its current score sits an a solid 80 (B).

If and when Melton’s will reopen is unconfirmed.

  1. This isn’t just A rat wandering over from the pet store. It’s an infestation. Who knows how long the rats have been breeding, what with easy access to tons of pet food. It was so bad that Melton’s had to get an injunction to get the pet store to close and fix the problem. Read the AJC article.
