The Atlanta-born rapper Young Thug, known for popularizing the “mumble-rap” genre and normalizing gender-bending fashion in the hyper-masculine rap scene, has announced his latest project – a 100-acre entertainment complex in Atlanta known as “Slime City.”

The project was first announced via a post on Instagram by his real-estate agent Trey Williams on August 18th. The Atlanta realtor arranged the sale of the land to Young Thug’s manager, Geoff Ogunlesi, to be gifted to Thugger for his 30th birthday. Williams later spoke with TMZ about Thugger’s plans for the project, which he said will hopefully include “really nice homes, a waterpark, perhaps a camping site and so much more.” Williams also indicated that Young Thug plans to host his annual music festival “Slime Fest” on the property once it is completed.

The exact project location has not yet been shared, however the original Instagram post includes footage that depicts a wooded property around a small, muddy lake. Young Thug, born Jeffrey Lamar Williams, grew up in Atlanta’s southside Sylvan Hills neighborhood, leading some to suspect that Slime City would be located near his childhood home. However, assembling 100-acres in the relatively dense neighborhood would be challenging and a review of satellite imagery of the neighborhood did not reveal any large properties with a lake.

Regardless of the project’s eventual location, its seems clear that Young Thug is serious about his development ambitions. According to the TMZ interview with realtor Trey Williams, “There are a few permits they’re waiting on … but as soon as they get the green light, it’s game on.”
