The redevelopment project seeks to transform an existing warehouse, at 1611 Ellsworth Industrial Blvd, directly across the street from Top Golf, into a center with 180,000 square feet of “retail-tainment” and office space.

Radio.1611 is currently home to Steady Hand Beer Co.

“Having owned this building since 1995, we are big believers in the growth and maturation of West Midtown, and we plan to deliver a project unlike anything else in the city,” Josh Bissinger, who’s leading YWA’s efforts on Radio.1611, said in the release.

“We have assembled an incredible team in Atlanta to help realize our unique vision that draws on our experience with similar experiential, design-driven projects like Pier 57, 2420 Amsterdam, Sky Garage, and others.”

Perkins and Will of Atlanta is the architect behind the transformation, which features an electric bright-yellow metal building façade and open-air corridors.

Other design elements include open and covered outdoor amenity spaces dedicated for the office users, a central commons with bamboo gardens and art installations, and a staircase which leads to an elevated terrace and treetop canopy walkway that will connect to a future phase indoor/outdoor wooded event venue.

“West Midtown is looking for something different,” David LeFevre, lead architect on the project for Perkins and Will, said in the release.

“We wanted to take the old adaptive-reuse playbook and turn it on its head. We think we’ve come up with something that elevates the typology by exploiting the design freedom YWA gave us.”

YWA has tapped Stream Realty Partners, the team behind the neighboring Ellsworth Lofts, the Beltline’s Lee + White, and the first phase of CIM’s downtown Centennial Yards project, to lead the leasing and management efforts.

The vision is to bring a mix of food and beverage, retail, entertainment, and office tenants to Radio.1611.

Construction is slated to commence fall 2019 with planned delivery to tenants in the third quarter of 2020
