QuikTrip To Bring Convenience Store Concept To Midtown Corner

First of its kind in Metro Atlanta.

QuikTrip aims to capture more of the intown market with a convenience store-only concept, which will be the first in the metro area.

As Starbucks is getting ready to exit its temporary location in the Viewpoint condos building to become a more-upscale Starbucks Reserve down the street, a new concept is preparing to move into the Midtown corner spot in the complex, which Sprint previously occupied.

The growth of Atlanta’s intown market in recent years has inspired a concept the city doesn’t see very much of: QuikTrip, known for being a gas station, is planning a just-the-convenience store concept for the location, similar to what 7-Eleven does in other cities.

The outpost will be the first of its kind in Metro Atlanta.

“We recognize that the world which we live in is changing,” Mike Thornburg, Manager of Public and Government Affairs told What Now Atlanta Friday. “More and more people are moving back into the urban core, and there aren’t a lot of options for people inside the city as far as convenience stores go.”

He mentioned that opening more convenience store locations has been a part of QuikTrip’s long-term strategy.

The location will be around 3,500 square feet, smaller than QT’s regular convenience stores, according to Thornburg. The outpost will feature fresh food from a full-service kitchen, a coffee bar, and a soft drink station – for those who want a little more than what CVS across the street can offer, but aren’t quite seeking an upscale experience at Starbucks Reserve either.

“At this point,” it is planned to be open 24/7 in true QT fashion.

The location is slated to open between late spring and early summer.

Editor’s note: Details about hours of operation were added 3/11 at 11:55 AM.

  1. I am surprised that an upscale condo building like View Point would want a low end convenience store as a tenant. Is there really that big of a demand for roller food in midtown?

    1. Have you been to a qt lately? They are hardly low end and yes it wouldwork very well there. There is currently nowhere to grab a small bite in the area on the go.., I’m sure they will upscale the appearance and food to match the high end snobbery that has taken over midtown.

    2. QT is definitely not “low end.” I’ve worked for QT for two years and trust me, it is wayyy better than any other convenient store out there
